The face of pain, once concealed, now reveals itself. I’ve always strived not to burden others, but today, I feel the need to share my day with you, my fellow warriors, who understand the daily struggles of living with chronic pain.
Outside my window, a delightful scene unfolds. The Hummingbirds, with vibrant feathers, are joyfully sipping on the homemade nectar. It’s a sight to behold, their wings a blur as they flap so fast. Did you know these tiny creatures can drink nectar from feeders by flicking their tongues in and out about 13 times per second? They can even consume up to double their body weight in a day. The beauty of Mother Nature, with its flawless design and intricate balance, is a constant source of strength and inspiration in my battle against Chronic Pain.
I am not a martyr; I am a survivor. But then again, aren’t we all survivors? Living in a world filled with so much hatred and despondency, it’s a struggle we all face. It brings frustration, separation, greed, and a sense of hopelessness. And for those of us living with chronic pain, it’s that much more difficult. After seeing so many doctors, functioning with titanium spinal bone fuzes. Having multiple other surgeries, I ask myself, “What can I do?” physical pain will be with me always, yet I know the depression that comes with it; I can conquer it. We are all warriors, and we can survive this.
When faced with a chronic pain diagnosis, the key is not to eradicate it entirely. Instead, embracing it can empower us in our daily lives. Pitying ourselves is the worst response. Instead, let’s affirm, ‘I am a warrior.’ It’s tough, I know. But it’s all about a little at a time.
