The 2019 COVID pandemic slowed down the universe and forced us into stillness. Over the years, we had lost ourselves—drifting into indulgence, greed, and arrogance. In the rush, we forgot how to distinguish between loving ourselves and glorifying ourselves. There’s a difference. We’ve been moving too fast, chasing perfection, and forgetting what a good life really is.
Now, in this unexpected pause, we have an opportunity to reflect. How can we use this time wisely?
We need to persevere—and more importantly, transform. Not through punishment or regret, but through forgiveness and growth. The earth cried out with warnings, but we didn’t listen. Could we have prepared? Were any of us ready? Perhaps not. But now that we’re here, the real question is: What’s the plan?
Let’s not dwell in guilt over what we did or didn’t do. Instead, let’s learn—about ourselves, our habits, and our patterns. It’s strange how often we say, “I don’t have time,” and yet now, time has been placed gently in our hands. Maybe for the first and only time.
So—let’s use it.
Do something new. Learn something new. Cook, create, connect. Rewire those bad habits. Break free from automatic living. Begin to listen more to the message than the messenger. It’s time to take ownership of your life and decisions.
For me, that awakening came after losing my job. It pushed me into a dark season. I struggled with depression, manic episodes, and chronic pain. My sense of control collapsed. Everything I thought was “balanced” fell apart.
But I chose not to stay in denial. I sought therapy, and it helped. I accepted that control was my coping mechanism—but also my trap. Healing began when I let go.
So if you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or broken—know this: your healing is your responsibility, but you’re not alone. There are resources. There is support. And there is always time to begin again.
Take this time to reflect. To grow. And when you do, say to yourself:
“Job well done.”
